NMEA to Modbus Converter

The SGW1-MB-NM is a NMEA to Modbus converter. The device will read incoming NMEA sentences on one of its serial ports. Then it will parse the sentence and map the values into a Modbus register. The Modbus registers can then be read with any standard Modbus master device.

The SGW1-MB-NM allows NMEA 0183 data coming from a GPS device or weather station to be interface with a Modbus device. This unit will convert NMEA data to Modbus registers, allowing Latitude, Longitude, Course, Speed, etc from a GPS device to be collect via a Modbus network.

NMEA supported sentences are:

Firmware 1.0 or higher: GGA, VTG, MWV
Firmware 1.1 or higher: XDR
Firmware 1.2 or higher: ROT, VBW, DPT, HDM, HDT, RMC, RMB, APB, DBT, MTW, MTA, RSA

Please specify the required sentences when placing an order to ensure the correct firmware is installed when you receive the unit.

The SGW1-MB-NM can be used with the MetPak weather station, WindSonic and WindObserver anemometers to interface with a Modbus network. All three can be directly connected to the serial channel on the GRD3300 series data loggers, but the SGW1-MB-NM converter will allow additional sensors to be connected using Modbus on the same serial channel. This unit can also be used with the CMC data loggers and HMI panels working with Modbus comms.
