VLS Optical Speed Sensor with Pulse Output

Quick Overview

The VLS Series sensors provide an NPN pulsed output for each rotation of a rotating object. Maximum range is up to 250,000 rpm. This is ideal for data-logging applications and where general speed monitoring of machines is required, it is particularly useful for monitoring & recording RPM or rotational speed data. Units are available with a visible light optical sensor, or a laser light for a greater optical range and better response. Reflective tape can also be used to improve the accuracy. A selection of mounting brackets, contact adaptors and focusing lens are available to allow for easier installation, high speed measurements and smaller focus points.

Features

Optical Ranges: Up to 2 metre (up to 1m with visible light) with reflective tape.

High Speed Applications: A clip on pre-focussed LN1 Lens Adaptor is available which can allow operation without reflective tape in certain controlled conditions.

Power Options: The VLS Series Optical Speed Sensors are available in 5vDC and 7.5-40vDC powered options, normally provided by the associated instrument from our range.

Contact Adaptor: The contact adaptor converts the optical function into direct shaft contactor for both RPM and linear speed measurement, this bayonet fitting device operates via a Hall Effect magnetic sensor built into the Sensor housing which picks up from a magnet in the VLS sensor.

Accessories must be ordered separately for the VLS Sensors A range of mounting devices is available for use with these sensors, brackets, clamps, fixed focus lens for high speed and small shafts.

VLS Speed Sensor Adaptor
LSAB/2	Surface speeds and rpm measurements can be made by attaching this accessory to any of the VLS optical sensor. The perimeter of the adapter wheel is 10cm, which relates to the RPM value of the VLS sensors.
