The SMP6 Pyranometer is a first class pyranometer with an amplified analogue and RS485 Modbus RTU output. The SMP6 is identical to the CMP6 pyranometer but includes a Modbus interface allowing for an improved response time and rescaleable, temperature corrected measurement data. The amplified output options are 0-1V or 4-20mA and these are identically configured to allow for easy installation and exchange during recalibration. The SMP6 has two, 2mm thick, high quality concentric domes which reduce directional error and improved the thermal isolation of the thermopile sensor. Spectral range of 285 to 2800nm. The SMP6 is ideal as a quickly installed, good quality, solar irradiation measurement sensor in meteorological, hydrological and agricultural applications.

Details

The SMP6 is a first class pyranometer that combines the sensor technology of the CMP6 with the added benefits of the both a RS485 Modbus interface and a standardised analogue output. The glass used has better transmission of ultraviolet radiation than the CMP3 glass, extending the spectral range down to 285nm; The two high quality concentric domes, 2 mm thick, reduce directional error and improve thermal isolation; The radiometric leveling is more accurate with the integral bubble level raised to the top of the housing and viewable without removing the sun shield. Also the CMP6 has a screw-in drying cartridge that allows the desiccant to be replaced. The sensing element is coated with a highly stable carbon based non organic coating, which delivers excellent spectral absorption and long term stability characteristics.

The SMP6 come with a 0-1V or 4-20mA analogue output and these can be rescaled by the user with the supplied PC software. The units are configured with the 0-1V output set as -200 to 2,000Wm² and the 4-20mA output as a 0-1,600Wm². Negative ranges are provided to allow the sensor to show levels at night when there is heat emitted from the sensor. All SMP's have the RS485 Modbus RTU interface, very low power requirements and are supplied with comprehensive, traceable, calibration certificates. Calibrations are traceable to the World Radiometric Reference (WRR) in Davos Switzerland and are performed in accordance with ISO 9847, Annex A.3 'Calibration of Field Pyranometers by comparison to a Reference Pyranometer'.

The SMP 6 Pyranometer is a first class pyranometer that is fully compliant with ISO 9060 specification. It is intended for shortwave global solar radiation measurements in the spectral range from 285 to 2800nm. Units are supplied with a comprehensive, traceable calibration certificate.

SMP6 instruments have an 8-pin socket and can be connected to a standard cable with a pre-wired waterproof 8 pin plug and flying leads. Cable lengths of 10m, 25m, 50m and 100m are available.
