Quick Overview

The Rutland FM910-4 Furlmatic Windcharger is designed for land based power generation for remote locations, making them ideal for remote logging applications. This windcharger has been successfully installed in the harshest of environments for critical power supply requirements. Being used with monitoring systems in Antarctica, Himalayan mountains and the hot, dusty climate of the Sahara Desert. The FM910-4 incorporates a unique high inertia alternator design to maintain momentum between gusts, which delivers more power. The automatic furling tail fin directs the turbine out of the wind above 16m/s to reduce stress on the turbine and tower.

The Furlmatic model has a "furling" device that tilts the turbine horizontally at right angles to the prevailing wind at windspeeds above 35mph. Using the FM910-4 along with the HRSi or HRDi  voltage controllers will also progressively slow down the turbine when the batteries are full. Both features protect the turbine from the forces of excessive winds, reduces stresses on the turbine and tower and extends the useful life of the system.

Using a combination of photovoltaic solar panels and wind chargers can provide a cheap, reliable solution to provide power to a remote power site. Wherever there is a site that is unattended, remote and exposed the FM910-4 can be relied on. Professional applications such as monitoring, telemetry, communications, isolated agricultural uses, navigation aids, military field applications, rural street lighting, remote homes and many more.
