5350 Profibus PA/Foundation Fieldbus Transmitter

Quick Overview

The 5350 is a head mounting programmable bus transmitters with Profibus PA and Foundation Fieldbus output suitable for RTD, TC, Linear resistance, potentiometer and bipolar mV measurement. The bus transmitters convert the inputs into a bus communication output via Profibus PA or Foundation Fieldbus. The unt requires a 9 to 30vDC power supply and can be mounted in a sensor head or DIN rail mounted. The unit has the option of intrinsically safe versions.

Profibus PA

Profibus PA is the Profibus solution for process automation. Profibus PA connects automation systems and process control systems with field devices such as pressure, temperature and level transmitters. Profibus PA can be used as a substitute for the analog 4 to 20 mA technology. Profibus PA achieves cost savings of over 40% in planning, cabling, commissioning and maintenance and offers a significant increase in functionality and security.

Foundation Fieldbus

Foundation fieldbus is an all-digital, serial, two-way communications system that serves as a Local Area Network (LAN) for factory/plant instrumentation and control devices. The fieldbus environment is the base level group of the digital networks in the hierarchy of plant networks. Foundation fieldbus is used in both process and manufacturing automation applications and has a built-in capability to distribute the control application across the network.
