Tinytag Ultra 2 Temperature/Relative Humidity

The Tinytag Ultra 2 TGU-4500 is a compact, self-contained data logger engineered specifically for precise environmental tracking in indoor and climate-controlled settings. It features an internally mounted 10K NTC thermistor and an integrated capacitive sensor to monitor ambient temperature and relative humidity simultaneously. Designed to secure up to 32,000 readings in non-volatile memory, this device records actual, minimum, and maximum values over customisable intervals. Its specialised electronics provide industry-leading 16-bit measurement resolution, helping facilities protect sensitive assets from microclimatic drift.

Features

  • Dual Parameter Tracking: Concurrently records both ambient temperature and relative humidity using onboard, factory-calibrated internal sensors.

  • Massive Non-Volatile Memory: Stores up to 32,000 individual readings (16,000 per channel) safely, preventing data loss even during complete battery depletion.

  • Flexible Trigger Routines: Offers absolute delayed startup configurations up to 45 days, as well as a magnetic switch trigger option for on-demand field activation.

  • Advanced Alarm Thresholds: Equipped with two user-programmable, latching LED alarms to provide immediate visual alerts if critical environmental boundaries are breached.

  • Lightweight Splash-Proof Build: Housed in a compact, IP53-rated lightweight casing featuring quick-release clips for seamless battery replacement and rapid deployment.

Applications

Guarding delicate historical documents, textiles, and fine art pieces from accelerated breakdown by continuously proving stable indoor microclimates.
Mapping ambient climate efficiencies inside residential complexes or multi-story commercial properties to log "before-and-after" thermal parameters for building insulation performance overhauls.
Providing industrial hygiene and health-and-safety validation by verifying that office temperature boundaries and relative humidity balances stay within acceptable comfort guidelines.
Tracking humidity shifts and ambient stability limits during sensitive packaging processes or dry chemical formulation stages.
Securing continuous log traces across commercial storage rooms to prevent moisture condensation and thermal damage to packed dry ingredients.

Frequently Asked Questions

▶ Q: How does the memory allocation split on the dual-channel TGU-4500 model?
A: The 32,000-reading internal flash memory array is shared evenly between the two parameters when both are active. This gives you exactly 16,000 time-stamped temperature logs and 16,000 time-stamped relative humidity logs running concurrently.
▶ Q: Do I need a special tool to change the battery on these loggers?
A: No tools are required to access the battery bay. The Ultra 2 case features heavy-duty side-clips that can be popped open easily by hand, allowing you to swap out the standard 3.6V ½AA lithium battery cell in seconds. Your logged historical datasets are completely protected in non-volatile flash memory throughout the changeover.
▶ Q: Can I submerge a TGU-4500 data logger in water or leave it outside exposed to the rain?
A: No. The TGU-4500 is rated to IP53, meaning it is dust-protected and safe from direct light condensation or vertical water splashes (making it perfect for damp rooms or museum display boxes). If your application involves open outdoor weather exposure, extreme driving rain, or full submersion, you must switch to the ruggedised Tinytag Plus 2 (TGP-4500) heavy-duty waterproof line.

Trigger Start Magnet for various Tinytag data loggers. The magnet is ideal for delayed triggering of Tinytag loggers that have been set up for a trigger start. The magnet is merely passed over the correct location on the logger and the lights will start to flash showing that logging procedure has been started. The position of the unit's trigger start switch is indicated by the • • • label on the back of the logger.
