PR 5337 2-Wire Transmitter with HART 7 Protocol

The PR 5337 is a universal 2-wire temperature transmitter that combines exceptional versatility with the latest HART communication technology. It converts a wide range of inputs—including RTD, thermocouple, linear resistance, and bipolar mV signals—into a standard 4-20mA output. Its key differentiator is the user-selectable HART protocol, allowing it to operate in either HART 5 or the more advanced HART 7 mode. This flexibility makes the PR 5337 a future-proof investment, as it can be deployed in existing HART 5 systems while being fully compatible with newer HART 7 hosts and their expanded features, such as enhanced diagnostics and process data.

Description

Applications

  • Linearised temperature measurement with PT100/1000, Ni100/1000, or Thermocouple sensor.
  • HART communications and 4-20mA analouge PV output.
  • Difference or average temperature measurement of 2 resistance or TC sensors.
  • Conversion of linear resistance variation to a standard analogue current signal, for instance from valves or Ohmic level sensors.
  • Amplification of a bipolar mV signal to a standard 4-20 mA current signal.
  • Connection of up to 63 transmitters can be connected in a multidrop cummincation setup (HART 7)

Features

  • RTD, Thermocouple, Ohm, or bipolar mV input
  • Galvanic isolation
  • For DIN form B sensor head mounting
  • Extremely high measurement accuracy
  • HART® communication

HART Protocol

The HART protocol provides a uniquely backward compatible solution for instrument communication as both 4-20 mA analog and digital communication signals are transmitted simultaneously on the same wiring. The Loop Link Programming Kit can configure the individual transmitters for multidrop mode and provide it with a unique polling address. The HART protocol revisions can be changed by user configuration to either the HART 5 or HART 7 protocl. HART provides many benefits promised by fieldbus, while retaining the compatibility and familiarity of existing 4-20mA systems.

HART® 7 protocol offers:

  • Long tag supported (up to 32 characters).
  • Enhanced Burst Mode and Event Notification with time stamping possibillity.
  • Device variables with status, can be mapped individually to any dynamic variable PV, SV, TV or QV.
  • Measuring of trending in the process signal.
  • Automatic event notification with time stamps.
  • Command aggregation for higher communication efficiency.
