STALC Submersible Triaxial Load Cell

The STALC3 submersible load cell is designed for use in fully submerged in water, or oil, at pressures up to 700 Bar. These load cells are ideal for measuring sheer strength of core samples in triaxial chambers.The load cells have a pressure compensating system, incorporated within its design, there is no change in zero or sensitivity when the STALC3 load cell is subjected to external pressure changes. Plus, the STALC3 also features accurate temperature compensation, excellent accuracy and stability, which is essential for the type of long term testing applications in which they are used. The standard 75mm diameter STALC3 submersible load cell is available in ranges from 0-1kN to 0-100kN, with ranges up to 250kN offered in the same design with a 120mm diameter body. The STALC3 can be used to measure tension if required; for capacities up to 5kN tension loads up to the cell’s rated capacity can be applied.

Description

The STALC3 Series of submersible load cells have been designed to measure compressive loads in fully submersible applications in water with pressures up to 70 Bar. Primarily they are used in triaxial chambers and can be retrofitted into existing triaxial chambers or installed into new ones. Triaxial chambers are pressurised chambers used for testing the shear strength of core samples taken from the earth. These provide a direct measurement of the axial compression load applied to the sample under test. The load cells feature an internal pressure compensating system, which eliminates zero or sensitivity changes when the load cell is subjected to externa pressure changes. The use of specially selected heat treated stainless steel and precision strain gauges ensure optimum performance and excellent long term stability.

DSC-USB Load Cell Digitiser Module. The DSC-USB is a USB load cell interface designed to convert load cell inputs into a digital USB Serial output, 100 samples per second. It is housed in a rugged plastic enclosure (71 x 51 x 20mm) rated to IP50 with a D9 connector and female micro USB connector. The DSC-USB draws power directly from the PC interface and units are supplied with DSCUSB to USB converter tool kit software and USB to micro USB cable, 1.5m.
