For Teracom units utilising 1-Wire sensors, the network topography is highly sensitive to cable capacitance and signal reflections, requiring a strict linear daisy-chain topology rather than a star or branch layout. To maintain data integrity, Teracom recommends a maximum total bus length of 30 meters using standard UTP cabling, with any branches (stubs) off the main line kept to an absolute minimum (under 1 meter). Deviating from a single continuous line or exceeding this distance creates impedance mismatches, causing data frames to bounce back and corrupt communication, which results in intermittent sensor dropouts.
1-Wire temperature sensors offer accurate digital temperature readings (Accuracy as low as ±0.5°C) within a range of -40 to +85°C and allowing multiple units on a single network.
