Quick Overview
Utilising a standard tipping bucket rain gauge with one of our SMS data loggers, Omni instruments was able to provide a low cost remote rain logging system. Rainfall data is transmitted to our M2MData web interface along with SMS alarm messages sent directly to local people to warn of high rainfall and potential flood situations.

Using our robust TR525i tipping bucket raingauge, OmniText SMS data logger and a weatherproof housing with a solar charging system, the rainfall monitoring system is ready to install. The power efficient design allows for year round operating without the need for power. Systems have been deployed all over the world including Bangladesh, Bhutan and India. The logger unit sends 15 minute rainfall readings to the M2Mdata web interface 3 times per day. Both local managers, remote project administrators and researchers are able to view the historic data as required ( via secure a secure login ) and download data to CSV file for further analysis in Excel.
Special firmware was added to the logger unit to look at 3 hourly, 24 hourly and 72 hourly rainfall measurements on a rolling total to generate specific high rainfall alerts.
