Description
The SHP 1 Pyrheliometer is a combination of the design and sensor technology of the CHP 1 with an integrated smart interface to provide an amplifier analogue output along with a detailed 2-wire RS485 Modbus protocol signal. Information on the units serial number, instrument settings, calibration history, etc can all be obtained from the unit via the Modbus output. Also, after recalibration, the sensor will retain the same analogue and digital measurement ranges meaning the associated data collection equipment does not require any adjustment, even replacement SHP 1’s can be configured with the same settings.
A complete digital solar monitoring system can be built using a Solys2 suntracker, SHP1 (Direct solar radiation), SMP11 (Total global radiation) and a shaded SMP11 (diffuse solar radiation). All readings can then be collected via Modbus to a suitable data logging system, eg a DT82I data logger.

The SHP 1 has a maximum output range of -200 to 4000Wm² and the analogue outputs can be rescaled to your own requirements. The negative range is used to show negative readings and if used in atmospheric conditions it is advised to keep the factory settings.
