Quick Overview
A nuclear power station required to measure pressure upstream and downstream of restrictors and in the transfer line of a sludge outflow possibly containing radioactive materials. Omni Instruments provided a special sensor with a design that entails no fluid fill of the sensor, and no possibility of fluid travelling up the cable, permanently submersible to 6m.
Sensor specification
Construction material 316 Stainless Steel for use in a radiation environment with 10metres of PUR submersible cable. At the end of this 10metre cable attached is a small in-line amplifier, in a waterproof enclosure.
Attached to the other end of the amplifier enclosure is a further 1 metre of submersible cable for outdoor use. The amplifier enclosure is over sleeved with heat shrink sleeving to make it suitable for use in an outdoor environment
Details
- Sensor body stainless steel
- Stainless steel flush-fitting diaphragm, with diaphragm connecting directly to the strain gauge (no intermediate fluid fill)
- Measuring range 0 to 10 bar g
- Overpressure capability 15.9 bar g
- Pressure reference sealed gauge, sealed at 1 BarA (0 BarG)
- 3/4 inch BSP parallel fitting, with minimum 2 spanner flats for tightening, plus groove and copper washer to effect a process seal to a 3/4 inch BSP socket
- Sensor to be rated to IP68 to allow permanent immersion in water up to 6m depth
- Amplifier remote from sensor – mounted in line with cable, suitable for permanent outdoor environment
- Amplifier output 4 – 20 mA three wire (equivalent to 0 – 10 BarG)
- Unvented polyurethane cable between sensor and amplifier – 10 metre length
- Additional cable between amplifier and customer’s termination point 1m
- Temperature range: -20°C to +80°C
