Description
The wTunnel-3001 can be used for wireless point to point links designed to create a reliable “tunnel” for industrial or utility data over medium to long distances where traditional wired connections are impractical or too costly. They bridge the gap between field devices and a central monitoring system, often replacing leased lines or expensive temporary cabled runs.
Features
- Suitable for Industrial Environments, or temporary remote applications
- Transparent Serial Port Tunnel RS232/485/USB
- Digital to Digital Tunnel
- Analogue to Digital Tunnel
- Secure Wireless Communication 802.15.4 in 2.4GHz
- 10-30vDC Power Supply, power consumption just 25mA @ 12vDC
- DIN Rail Mountable
Applications
Water and Wastewater Management (SCADA/Telemetry)
- Remote Pumping Stations: Transmitting data on tank levels or pump status (on/off, fault) from booster pumps or remote wells back to a central SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) server.
- Reservoir Monitoring: Sending water levels from remote reservoirs or dams.
- Valve Control: Providing a link for the central unit to remotely open or close critical control valves.
Electric Utility and Power Distribution
- Substation Monitoring: Transmitting data for feeder automation and monitoring breaker status from remote substations.
- Recloser Control: Allowing utility operators to remotely manage automatic circuit reclosers on power lines to restore service after temporary faults.
- Renewable Energy Sites: Communicating operational data and alarms from remote solar arrays or activate cleaning systems
Transportation and Traffic Control
- Railway Signalling: Providing a reliable link for Positive Train Control (PTC) data or signalling between trackside equipment and control centres.
- Traffic Intersections: Transmitting data between traffic control cabinets for synchronized operation and status reporting in distributed traffic management systems.
Oil and Gas
- Pipeline Monitoring: Transmitting pressure, flow, or temperature readings from sensors along remote segments of a pipeline to a control centre.
- Wellhead Automation: Sending data from electronic flow meters and other sensors at distant wellheads for production monitoring and control.
Industrial Automation and Manufacturing
- Warehouse and Port Operations: Extending industrial Ethernet or serial communications to cranes, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), or remote monitoring points.
- Environmental Monitoring: Collecting data from air quality monitors or weather stations located in expansive industrial complexes.
