Description

The MTN/VM220 is a compact, rechargeable, and portable handheld vibration meter designed to provide accurate measurements using a constant current accelerometer. It is an essential troubleshooting tool for instrumentation engineers, offering an instant readout of the condition of bearings and rotating parts.

Features

  • High-Visibility Display: Features a vibrant 16-bit colour LCD screen with a 160 x 128 resolution and a wide 100° viewing angle.
  • Durable Design: Housed in a rugged industrial rubber case to withstand field use.
  • Internal Data Storage: Built-in non-volatile memory can store up to 100 time-stamped readings, including measurement values, filter settings, units, and crest factor.
  • Audio and AC Output: Includes a 3.5mm stereo jack that allows users to listen to vibration directly through headphones or output an AC signal.
  • Advanced Filtering: Equipped with switchable low-pass filters (1kHz, 5kHz, 10kHz) and a 1-10kHz band-pass filter specifically for bearing condition monitoring.

The VM220 provides diverse calculation modes for comprehensive analysis:

  • RMS (Root Mean Square): For standard severity assessment.
  • Peak and Peak-to-Peak: To capture maximum vibration levels.
  • Crest Factor (CF): Specifically designed to identify impacting caused by roller bearing wear, gear tooth wear, or cavitation.
  • Bearing Condition: Specialised modes for bearing acceleration and velocity.

 

Machine Status Indication (ISO Standards)

The unit conforms to ISO10816-3 and ISO10816-7 standards, offering eight modes for different machine classes and foundations. It provides a visual colour-coded status indication:

  • Unacceptable / Severe: Red.
  • Unsatisfactory / Restricted: Orange.
  • Satisfactory: Yellow.
  • Good / Unrestricted: Green.

Hardware, Environmental, and Accessories

Power and Connectivity

  • Battery: Powered by a 3.7V Lithium-ion battery providing over 20 hours of life.
  • Charging: Reaches full charge within 4 hours via a mini-USB port using the supplied worldwide charger.
  • Auto Power-Off: To conserve energy, the meter shuts down after 15 minutes of inactivity (or 5 minutes if the sensor is disconnected).
  • Sensor Connection: Uses a robust 4-pin Lumberg connector for the sensor cable.
