AP-Lite Optical Electrodes

Aquaprobe optical water quality sensors for the AP-LITE digital water quality sensor. These advanced optical electrodes are incredibly practical, allowing for easy, tool-free removal and replacement in the field. They’re designed specifically for seamless integration with the AP-LITE digital water quality sensor, to provide a robust platform for your water monitoring needs. The AP-LITE Optical Electrodes offer measurements of Turbidity, Chlorophyll A, Blue Green Algae (fresh and salt water options), Rhodamine, Fluoresceine, CDOM/FDOM and refined oil. These electrodes are designed for use with the AP-LITE and factory calibration is for the measurement chamber in this probe.

Description

The AP-LITE digital water quality sensor leverages cutting-edge technology to seamlessly integrate with Aquaprobe optical electrodes. The AP-LITE Optical Electrodes deliver exceptional performance at a cost-effective price. Their hand-removable design ensures quick and easy changes whilst running field tests. These electrodes use fluorescence measurement, which is ideal for researchers who are interested in detecting the presence or absence of a specific substance in reasonable concentrations and measuring relative fluorescence changes that can be used as an indication of increasing or decreasing concentrations. The AP-LITE can measure a variety of parameters, including measurement of the parameters listed on the table below (Click the parameter for Links to more details, opens in a new tab).

Fluorescence measurement techniques are not ideal for quantitative measurement and it is therefore impossible to specify an absolute accuracy. The accuracy figures quoted above represent the equipment’s capability at the calibration points at 25°C. In order to obtain accurate results, data obtained with a fluorescent electrode in the field must be post-calibrated with data from standard laboratory analysis of grab samples acquired during the study.

The AP-LITE Probe

The AP-Lite probe’s socket can house any one of the 8 AP-LITE optical electrodes, which simply screw in and out. The AP-Lite is constructed with a matt black aluminium sleeve and end cap that enclose the sensing electrode and provide a closed, constant condition, non reflective measurement chamber. The sleeve should always be refitted to the AP-Lite probe to enclose the electrode and provide a measurement chamber to ensure it remain physically constant during both calibration and measurement. This ensure the readings are consistent and offer a repeatable reading. The sleeve should also be used if the optional Flow Through Cell (Flowcell) is being used to take readings.

Gently agitate the Probe several times in order to remove any air bubbles that may be clinging to the electrode when first put into the water. Any remaining air bubbles may cause high readings. If this may be the case, then the probe may need further agitation to clear any remaining air bubbles.

The Probe sleeve has been treated with a non-reflective coating, and the inside of the Probe Sleeve and Sleeve Cap should be kept clean and free from any deposits that may cause stray reflections. Wipe over with a soft damp cloth and non-abrasive detergent. The same should be done with the electrode lens on a daily basis to prevent errors in the probe readings.
