Description

The AP-LITE Single Parameter probe offers a streamlined and cost-effective solution for focused water quality monitoring. Designed for simplicity and ease of use, this compact probe allows users to measure one specific parameter, making it ideal for applications where researchers are interested in detecting the presence or absence of a specific substance in reasonable concentrations and measuring relative fluorescence changes that can be used as an indication of increasing or decreasing concentrations. Its robust design ensures reliable performance in the field for targeted monitoring needs.

Features

  • Dedicated Measurement: Focuses on measuring one specific water quality parameter.
  • Cost-Effective: Economical solution compared to multi-parameter systems.
  • Compact & Lightweight: Easy to transport and deploy in various field conditions.
  • Simple Operation: Designed for straightforward use, ideal for users needing direct measurements.
  • Robust Construction: Built to withstand demanding environmental conditions.
  • Compatibility: Connects with specific Aquaprobe optical sensors for the chosen parameter.

Applications

  • Stream/River Spot Checks: Quick assessments of a particular contaminant or indicator in a waterway.
  • Aquaculture Pond Monitoring: Dedicated measurement of key parameter in fish farms.
  • Industrial Discharge Monitoring: Focused checks on a specific effluent parameter.
  • Educational Use: Simple and clear for teaching fundamental water quality measurement principles.
  • Remote Location Monitoring: Where simplicity and a single critical data point are paramount.
  • Post-Event Assessment: Rapidly checking a single parameter after a spill or environmental incident.
  • Targeted Compliance Monitoring: Regularly checking a single parameter to meet specific regulatory requirements.

The AP-LITE is a simple probe with a single optical socket and an integrated temperature sensor. This socket is able to house any one of the optical electrodes in the table below, links to get more details on the parameter for each probe.

Fluorescence measurement techniques are not ideal for quantitative measurement and it is therefore impossible to specify an absolute accuracy. The accuracy figures quoted above represent the equipment’s capability at the calibration points at 25°C. In order to obtain accurate results, data obtained with a fluorescent electrode in the field must be post-calibrated with data from standard laboratory analysis of grab samples acquired during the study.

To fit an Electrode, first remove the sleeve from the AP-Lite by unscrewing at the blue split-line. Apply a small amount of silicone grease (supplied with the AP-Lite) to the threaded section and the O-ring of the AUX Electrode (see photograph). ENSURE NO GREASE IS APPLIED TO THE GOLD CONTACTS. Use a clean cloth or tissue paper, polish the gold contacts ensuring they are completely clean. Carefully insert the electrode into the socket and tighten firmly by hand until the O’ring is completely compressed. Do not over-tighten or use any tool (such as pliers). After fitting the Electrode, replace the Sleeve and ensure the Sleeve End Cap is fitted.

Once a new electrode is fitted it is essential to carry out a full two-point calibration prior to use. Calibration solutions are available with the relevant optical electrode.
