The system comprises of a GPRS enabled data logger which can monitor up to 100 parameters via distributed acquisition modules running on an RS485 data bus. Modules are available for measurement of temperature sensors, voltage, current, digital state, and pulse counting.
The logger continuously scans all input channels and sends a reading from each channel every 5-10 seconds. Should the connection be lost, for instance when a train is going through a tunnel, up to 50,000 readings can be stored in a buffer. Once the connection is re-established the unit will immediately send the real time data and also send the stored readings over a period of a few minutes. All the data is stored in a MySQL database on a secure server, and is published to a web browser interface.
