Description
The NKE Instrumentation WiHub functions as a dedicated wireless communication bridge designed to automatically gather, buffer, and transmit data retrieved from submerged WiSens loggers. When data loggers surface or come within range, the WiHub interfaces locally to download stored environmental measurements without manual cable connections. It acts as a vital roadside or shore-based telemetry station, packaging local sensor metrics alongside GNSS positioning data for remote delivery.
The WiHub leverages localised RF/Wi-Fi handshakes to harvest data autonomously from multiple nearby aquatic monitoring assets, minimising maintenance overhead and physical connector wear. Data is then transmitted using the 3G/4G signal to the internet with Email, FTP or web interface connection.
Features
- Automated Data Retrieval: Automatically collects logged files from nearby WiSens underwater loggers the moment they surface or connect.
- Flexible Upstream Telemetry: Offloads collected data and system coordinates via built-in cellular 3G/4G, local Wi-Fi, or dedicated Ethernet connections.
- Integrated GNSS Positioning: Features onboard satellite positioning to accurately track and log the physical deployment or drift location of associated data assets.
- Standardised Protocol Support: Communicates via common web protocols including FTP, SMTP, and HTTP for seamless back-end database integration.
- Robust Field Enclosure: Built into a compact, weather-resistant housing designed for harsh outdoor and coastal deployment environments.
Applications
- Coastal oceanographic research shore stations and harbour monitoring networks
- Inland lake, reservoir, and river catchment automated data collection outposts
- Offshore aquaculture facility environmental tracking nodes
- Multi-logger aquatic deployment clusters requiring centralised remote telemetry
