Water Leak Detection Sensor – TSF400

The TSF400-0 is a water leak detection sensor designed for detecting the presence of water on a surface without the need for a separate alarm module. The sensor uses 5 electrodes on the base of the sensor and trips when one of the four outer electrodes connects to the central electrode. This sensor is ideal for monitoring a HVAC drip tray, floors in server rooms or simple domestic or commercial flood alert systems. The output is rated for 30V @ 100mA and can be connected to digital alarm units for providing local or SMS alerts.

Description

Traditional water detection often requires complex wiring back to a central control panel. The TSF400 Water Leak Sensor simplifies this by integrating the detection logic directly into the probe. This “Standalone” design is the perfect solution for localised risks—such as HVAC drip trays or individual server racks—where you need a direct digital signal without the footprint of a DIN-rail module.

The TSF400-0 is a compact water-leak detector designed for early detection of water presence on floors, trays, or inside equipment enclosures. It operates from a wide 4.5–26vDC supply and provides an N-channel open-drain output for direct connection to PLCs, controllers, alarm modules, or building-automation systems.

Detection is based on the conductivity between sensing electrodes; when water bridges the electrodes, the output changes state, enabling fast and reliable alarming with just a few millimeters of water. The detector is fully electronic, with no moving parts, ensuring high reliability and long service life. Electrode arrangement is shown on the diagram below on the rear of the TSF400 water detection sensor.

N-channel open-drain output

The TSF400 is designed for the modern engineer. Its N-channel open-drain output acts like a dry contact, allowing it to interface directly with PLCs, BMS controllers, or Ethernet I/O modules like the TCW series of remote modules, available in our Ethernet Remote Monitoring Devices section. Whether you are monitoring a remote telecom shelter or a high-rise office building, the TSF400 provides a low-power (5mA), high-reliability gateway to early leak warning.
