Description
Features
- For use with EL-USB-5 and EL-USB-5+ Data Loggers
- May also be used with model EL-USB-3 to alter input voltage range to 2.4vDC with a 2.5mV resolution
- Includes screw terminals for connections
Wiring Diagram
Using the USB-CAP-5 with the EL-USB-3 will convert the logger into a 0 – 2.4V input instead of the 0-30V and improve the resolution to 2.5mV from 50mV with the USB-CAP-3 supplied with the EL-USB3 as standard. In custom calibration set 0V to 0V and 12.915V to 1.0V (you can use other units). 12.915 is the scaling factor of the CAP but the logger does not know which cap is fitted so you have to adjust for it in the custom calibration. For other voltages then you need to simulate the CAP.
Default values are; Ra is 56 kilohm and Rb3 is 4.7 kilohm, the circuit is shown below:
The table below shows a selection of other ranges possible with the EL-USB-3.
Range | Ra | Rb3 | Cust1 | Cust2 | Steps
0 – 2.4V | 0 Ohm | None | 0V | 1.0V | 2.5mV | USB-CAP-5 |
0 – 5.0V | 36 kilohm | 30 kilohm | 0V | 2.2V | 10mV
0 – 10V | 51 kilohm | 15 kilohm | 0V | 4.4V | 20mV
0 – 30V | 56 kilohm | 4.7 kilohm | 0V | 12.915V | 50mV | USB-CAP-30V |
0 – 48V | CAP + 36 kilohm | CAP | 0V | 20.574V | 100mV TBC
