Description

The Omni Instruments Subsea Switch is a high reliability, non-contact switching solution designed for various depths. Built for ROV or diver activation, it provides a robust interface for controlling power to subsea sleds, data loggers, displays, and battery systems without the risk of mechanical seal failure in the switch mechanism itself. Featuring a square mounting plate made of 316 stainless steel, behind which a rotating switch bar containing two permanent magnets Upon rotation to the “ON” position, one of these magnets align with a reed switch sensor housed in a stainless steel enclosure behind the mounting plate, activating a solid state relay. The stainless steel housing also incorporates one or two Subsea bulkhead connectors for controlling a power supply, or turn on an internal battery power. The unit is provided with a 5m cable, equipped with matching Subsea connectors, with the entire switch assembly and connectors rated for operation in seawater depths suitable for the North Sea Continental Shelf or up to 4000 meters depths in the Deep Ocean.

Versatile Depth Profiles & “Shelf-Specific” Benefits

The subsea switch is designed for a wide range of deployment scenarios:

• Deep-Sea (4,000m): At these depths, the robust 316 stainless steel housing prevents implosion and ensures the internal electronics remain isolated from 400 Bar of external pressure.
• North Sea Continental Shelf (300m): While the pressure is lower, the North Sea presents “rougher” conditions during deployment and recovery. Our robust endcap design and impact-resistant mounting plates protect the switching mechanism from the mechanical shocks and high-energy sea states typical of shelf operations.
