Senix Toughsonic Remote Ultrasonic Level Sensors

The ToughSonic Remote sensors are specifically designed for low powered remote level and distance monitoring that use ultrasonic sound waves to measure distances to objects and fluids. The ToughSonic Remote level sensors differ from the standard ToughSonic sensors as they only provide a serial Modbus output without any analogue or digital outputs. The units are housed in a rugged marine grade 316 stainless steel housing with full epoxy potting to allow installation in the harshest environments. Groups of sensors can be synchronised to prevent mutual interference and up to 32 RS485 units can be used in a single addressable network. The ToughSonic Remote 14, 30 and 50 have been specifically designed for demanding applications with solar power and real time data via GSM/GPRS or even satellite communications to a central monitoring station.

Description

The ToughSonic Remote is a remote water level sensor with a maximum range of 50 feet (15.2 meters).  This digital sensor is designed for accuracy and long-term durability in remote monitoring applications using solar power and GSM/GPRS, or even satellite communications for central monitoring of multiple sites.  The ToughSonic Remote sensors are housed in a marine grade stainless steel housing, with full epoxy potting and an IP68 rating, plus Senix Lightening Guard, with protection for electrical transients up to 7Kv on both power and communication circuits. The ToughSonic Remote is fully configurable using SenixView software, which allows adjustment of sensor parameters, viewing data with displays, charts and filtered or unfiltered data, analysis of data and maintenance of sensors.

All ToughSonic sensors use an ultrasonic sound waves to measure distances through air. This technology has distinct advantages over mechanical, optical and radar technologies. Ultrasonic sound waves are unaffected by ambient light, target colour, transparency or reflectivity and the target area can be much wider than optical sensor allowing small and large objects to be easily detected. The ultrasound waves are non-contact, which last longer and require less maintenance than contact sensors that are more prone to corrosion, scaling and coating.
