Description
The ToughSonic CHEM sensors use ultrasonic sound waves to measure distances through air. This technology has distinct advantages over mechanical, optical and radar technologies. Ultrasonic sound waves are unaffected by ambient light, target colour, transparency or reflectivity and the target area can be much wider than optical sensor allowing small and large objects to be easily detected. The ultrasound waves are non-contact, which last longer and require less maintenance than contact sensors that are more prone to corrosion, scaling and coating.

The ToughSonic CHEM sensors are designed for liquid level measurements in corrosive chemical environments, but it is also an excellent choice for benign materials as well. It is fully submersible, chemical and shock resistant with a sealed PVDF housing. The SenixView software allows the units to be easily rescaled, configured, cloned, addressed and synchronised with other sensors. Simultaneous outputs are available in programmable 4-20mA or 0-10V analogue outputs and PNP or NPN switches (configurable as sinking or sourcing). The RS485 serial output can link to an addressable network using the Modbus protocol.
