Description
The GMX600 weather station is an ideal weather station for hiring to monitoring environmental conditions for fun runs, or just to collect local weather data. The unit can be secured to a pole, or gantry, and will monitors the weather conditions to ensure appropriate measures can be taken for extreme conditions. The unit can provide Wet Bulb temperatures that can help race organisers monitor for heat stress, ability of runners to cool themselves, or if additional cooling is needed.
GMX600 Parameters
- Wind speed m/s
- Wind direction °
- Compass Direction (Magnetic North relative to North Marker)
- Temperature °C
- Relative humidity %RH
- Wet bulb temperature °C
- Dew Point °C
- Rainfall Total & Intensity mm & mm/Hr
- Supply Voltage (monitors battery voltage)
- Date and Time, internal Real Time Clock.
Wind
Wind speed and direction measurements are measured using an ultrasonic sensor and relative to the North Marker. GMX600 will provide Relative Wind Speed and Direction values. Average, or Corrected, speed and direction readings can also be provided on request.
Air Temperature, Humidity & Barometric Pressure
A combined instrument mounted inside three double louvered, naturally aspirated radiation shields with no moving parts. This results in a high performance across each measurement over long periods of time. These values are used to determine other derived parameters, eg Wet bulb and Dew Point.
Rainfall
An infrared rain sensor is fitted to the top of the GMX600 and this provides the rainfall values

The GMX600 is supplied with a mounting bracket with u-Bolts for mounting to a pole or gantry. The mounting clamp is suitable for attaching to a vertical pipe with a diameter of 30-58mm.
Optional Extra
RWS-TRIPOD-HIRE
A portable 2m tripod is available to hire to assist mounting the GMX600 Weather station. This tripod provides a pole to secure the mounting bracket to and can be a useful addition, if there are no suitable poles to secure the mounting bracket.
DT82I-HIRE
The Datataker DT82I smart data logger provides an extensive array of features that allow it to be used across a wide variety of applications and can be used to collect the data from the GMX600 weather station. The DT82I is a robust, stand alone, low power data logger featuring USB memory stick support, 18-bit resolution and extensive communications capabilities. The Datataker DT82I is a totally self contained solution and supplied in a portable pelicase with waterproof Hirschmann bulkheads for connecting to the GMX600, UK power supply and a 7Ah battery for up to 5 days logging without power.
Solar Irradiance

The SP Lite 2 is a simple, low cost pyranometer for routine measurements of solar radiation. The unit has been designed to be used in all weather conditions with minimal maintenance. The SP Lite 2 features a silicon photo-diode detector with a conical diffuser to provide a full 180° field of view and allow rain to run off. The photo-diode does limit the spectral range, 400-1100nm, but this provides a similar spectral response to photovoltaic solar cells.
Measurement Range: | +2000Wm² |
