ORT Series Optical Rotary Torque Transducers

The ORT 230/240 Transducer offers an ideal means for precise dynamic measurement of rotary and static torque with available ranges of less than 100Nm and for bandwidths of up to 50Khz. The new TorqSense ORT 230/240 torque sensors replace the E200 ORT series and feature all new electronics that have produced significant performance gains in resolution, frequency response, reduced sensor current consumption and faster digital data throughput. The ORT Series Transducers use a non-contact measurement principle whereby a light passes through two discs with segmented gratings and photovoltaic sensors constantly monitor the light beam intensity to produce an electrical output that is used to provide a precise indication of the torque transmitted by the shaft. Optical rotary torque sensors are ideal for applications when the demand is for low torque and/or high bandwidth.

    Description

    The ORT 230/240 is a transducer designed for accurately measuring torque in both rotating and stationary objects. It’s perfect for applications with torque under 100Nm and those needing quick data capture (up to 50KHz). These models are a direct replacement for the older E200 ORT series, boasting improved electronics and enhancements that deliver better resolution, faster response times, lower energy use, and quicker digital data transfer.

    TorqSense ORT230 Series:

    • Fixed voltage or current analogue outputs (one for torque and the other for speed or power) for interfacing with data loggers or displays
    • BIT Self-diagnostics for letting the manufacturer know that the transducer’s torque, speed ratings and calibration due date have not been exceeded
    • Simple ‘Sensor status’ output pin
    • Sensors to monitor shaft temperature for better compensation and accuracy

    TorqSense ORT240 Series:

    • Digital outputs, such as RS232, CANbus and USB, for interfacing with data loggers or Torqview software running on a laptop or PC.
    • Digital input for configuring transducer via PC
    • 2 x user selectable voltage or current analogue outputs (one for torque and the other for speed, power or peak torque) for interfacing with analogue instrumentation
    • Transducer configuration software to allow user to changes transducer variables
    • BIT Self-diagnostics for letting users know data is trustworthy, that the transducer’s torque, speed ratings and calibration due date have not been exceeded
    • Simple ‘Sensor status’ output pin
    • Sensors to monitor shaft temperature for better compensation and accuracy
    • Ability to connect up to 10 transducers using USB

    E201 Optical Torque Transducer Display. Automatically detects any E200 transducer and configures display and +/-5V analogue output for E200 s full scale range. Torque is displayed on the 3 digit LCD display, RPM output connection available. A test button and dial lock potentiometer allows the user to zero the torque signal output and allows for transducer integrity checking and highlights when recalibration is required. Power supply 90-250vAC or 11-14vDC.

    E202 Advanced Optical Torque Interface. Automatically detects any E200 transducer and configures display and +/-5V analogue output for E200 s full scale range. Torque and RPM are displayed along with computed power on the display screen. A test button and dial lock potentiometer allows the user to zero the torque signal output and allows for transducer integrity checking and highlights when recalibration is required. Power supply 90-250vAC or 11-14vDC. Operates independantly or with remote PC and connects to TorqView to give advanced display modes. Additional display options with Optical RPM pick off E200 transducers, unit will display speed and power plus provide menus for average speed readings and adjust speed output full scale setting.
