Description

The MTN/1187I Series is an ATEX and IECEx Group II certified acceleration transducer suitable for monitoring RMS vibration in hazardous areas. The MTN/1187I is a general purpose, top?entry acceleration transducer with 2-wire proportional 4-20mA output. Stainless Steel construction allows for continuous vibration monitoring in harsh industrial environments with an IP67 rating. Sensors are fitted with an integral connector and is available with a wide range of mountings.

RMS Acceleration Transducer

Acceleration sensors are vibration sensors that provide a conditioned 4-20mA output proportional to the RMS value of the acceleration values of the monitored vibration. The output shows the force in ‘g’, which is equivalent to 9.80665 Newton of force per Kg of mass. RMS Acceleration transducers are ideal for monitoring bearings, gear mesh and other rotational machinery with a high frequency range.

Any change in the normal vibration signal can indicate issues that need immediate attention to prevent damage to equipment. Changes in the vibration can indicate a piece of machinery is working loose from its mounting, fan blade malfunction, bearing failures or other machinery wear. Logging the vibration readings at regular intervals can be useful to highlight the gradual wear of part of a machine. This can also help to provide information on the expected life of machinery in any given application and allow for a suitable replacement to be purchased before a failure and limit the duration of any shutdowns caused by mechanical failures.

Standard units come with a ¼” UNF Female, Quick Fit Female or ½” NPT Male mounting options with a selection of different mounting adapters are available to provide M8, M10 and M12 mounting threads.
