Modbus Water Leak Detection Sensor

Description

Traditional water detection often requires complex wiring back to a central control panel. The TSF400-4 Water Leak Sensor simplifies this by integrating the detection logic directly into a RS485 Modbus RTU signal. This design is the perfect solution for multi-drop water leak detection, such as individual server racks, where you may need to monitor multiple locations on a single signal line. Up to 247 sensors can be monitored over a single Modbus network.

The TSF400-4 is a compact water-leak detector designed for early detection of water presence on floors, trays, or inside equipment enclosures. It operates from a wide 4.5–26vDC supply and provides an RS485 Modbus RTU Interface that allows for direct connection to BMS or Modbus controllers or alarm modules.

Detection is based on the conductivity between sensing electrodes; when water bridges the electrodes, the output changes state, enabling fast and reliable alarming with just a few millimeters of water. The detector is fully electronic, with no moving parts, ensuring high reliability and long service life. Electrode arrangement is shown on the diagram below on the rear of the TSF400 water detection sensor.
