Description
MiniWater Snap Heads for MiniWater Probes.
The MiniWater probes are designed with a quickly replaceable MiniWater snap head turbine anemometer with a separate probe handle that contains all the electronics. The probes include a synthetic plastic construction snap head with an Aluminium turbine that are suitable for measuring liquid flows.
The MiniWater probes can be used in open channel water course and as such can be damaged by debris or plant and wildlife getting into the turbine. The MiniWater snap head turbine design allow the turbine to be replaced on site to continue measurements using the same probe.
Two probe sizes are available: Micro and Mini, each with a flow rate range option of 0-5 m/s and 0-10 m/s. Both types work similarly, producing a frequency output as the metal blade rotates past the probe’s handle. This frequency is directly related to water flow velocity and is minimally influenced by pressure, temperature, and density.
The different snap head sizes generate varying pulse counts for different flow rates. Therefore, when replacing a snap head, it’s essential to use one with the same size and flow rate as the original. Mismatched snap heads can lead to inaccurate readings on the MC20 display and other logging devices.
The MiniWater sensors are all designed with replaceable MiniWater Snap Head. The MiniWater Snap Head fixing system makes it very simple to fit a new impeller to the flow probes, whilst being secure enough not to be removed whilst in the water. Being able to replace a damaged probe quickly and easily saves losing time and money for a water flow monitoring application. To replace a damaged snap head, the old snap head should be pulled directly from the handle and the replacement head pushed directly on to the handle. The original calibration is retained and no adjustments should be required.
A selection of specific MiniWater snap heads are available in the following MiniWater versions:
- MiniWater 20
- MiniWater 6
- MiniWater 60
- MiniWater 64
A snap-on head can only be replaced by a snap-on head of the same size for the same model, i.e. Micro for Micro, Mini for Mini and Macro for Macro. Trying to use this MiniWater snap head for any other anemometer, will cause the probe to lose its specification regarding accuracy. Please refer to the table below to ensure the snap head matches your original probe.
