Description
The MC 4.0 is available in 4 different versions, with options for lemo connectors for vane anemometers, touchscreen or the larger 4,000mAh battery. Units feature an internal datalogger and Bluetooth connectivity, plus additional measuring channels, There are also additional modules available to allow for humidity, differential pressure to be connected to the unit.
MC 4.0 units with the Lemo connector option can be used with any of the MiniAir 20 vane anemometers to monitor surface water or air flows. With the appropriate modules, ThermoAir, differential pressure or humidity probes can also be connected..
Snapheads can be swapped on site and will automatically adjust to the connected sensors. The MiniWater probes are available in the Micro and Mini sizes with ranges of 5m/s and 10m/s. Short extension rods can be fitted to these probes to allow for measuring flow velocities from the river bank, or bridge over the river
The MC 4.0 can also be used with MiniAir 20 vane anemometers to monitor air flows and these come in three different sizes: Micro; Mini; and Macro, with two different flow ranges available for each: 0-20ms; and 0-40m/s. The individual probes include a synthetic plastic construction snap head with a metal turbine that generates a frequency output each time the metal blade passes the probe handle. The frequency of rotation is virtually proportional to the air-flow velocity and largely independent of pressure, temperature, density and humidity. Probes are available with either Aluminium or Steel vane and handles. The Aluminium probes are suitable for non-aggressive gases. Steel probes are available for aggressive environments or higher temperature environments.

Snap-Head Replacement
The snap-head fixing system provides a very simple means to fit a new impeller to the flow probe. As the probes are being placed into rivers, canals and other water courses, they can be damaged by small pebbles, plants and other debris caught in the turbines. Being able to replace a damaged turbine saves costly non-productive time and allows you to have the probe back in service in a matter of seconds by simply changing the snap-head.
Every Miniwater turbine generates a pulse each time a vane blade passes the probe handle and the MC 4.0 display converts the output to a flow velocity. Each snap head and probe handle are paired and any replacement snap head should be of the same original size and flow range. Fitting an incorrect snap head will not match the probe handle and therefore not provide an accurate output to the MC 4.0.
