ICA Series Miniature Analogue Strain Gauge Voltage & Current Signal Amplifiers.

ICA Series Miniature Analogue Strain Gauge Voltage & Current Signal Amplifiers.

The ICA series of In-Cell/Miniature Amplifiers are designed for applications where it is not possible to fit a larger amplifier due to space constraints, or where a direct amplified output is required from a sensor. The amplifiers will provide a standard industrial output from the mV/V output of load cells that is easier to connect to data loggers and other monitoring equipment. Options include 4-20mA, voltage and bipolar ±10V outputs calibrated and scaled as requested to suit the relevant sensors. Amplifiers can be housed in a die-cast enclosure to work as an in-line signal conditioner with cable glanded exits, or as the basic multi-layers printed circuit board for integration into your own equipment.

    Description

The ICA series of In-Cell/Miniature Amplifiers are designed for applications where it is not possible to fit a larger amplifier due to space constraints, or where a direct amplified output is required from a sensor.

The size of the ICA means that it can be fitted integral to most strain gauge based products, giving a pre-scaled output ready for use. Although this form of amplifier does not offer the performance available from our SGA series, but has other advantages, as detailed above.

The ICA can be bought separately or supplied as an integral part of one of our standard or special sensor products. This product is supplied with a 3 Year Warranty.

Offered in 5 Very High Stability versions:

    • ICA1H 3 wire – 0.1 to 10.1V
    • ICA2H 3 wire – 0.1 to 5.1V
    • ICA3H 4 wire – ±10V / ±15V supply
    • ICA4H 3 wire – 4 to 20mA
    • ICA6H 3 wire – ±10 V / 15-24V supply

    ICA6H

The ICA6H is a two-part module which combines an ICA3H with a DC-DC power module. The power module generates both positive and negative supply rails for the ICA3H thereby allowing the ICA6H to operate with a standard 15vDC power supply, instead of a bipolar ±14vDC power supply of the ICA3H unit. The ICA6H also has pads on its underside which can be used to mount and provide connections for a range of Transducer Electronic Data Sheet Chips (TEDS).

    ICA5S

The ICA5S is a standard stability variant of the ICA models and has a a lower perfomance and accuracy. The 2 wire excitation provided to the amplifier decreases as the load cell’s impedance decreases, resulting in a reduction in the load cell’s output. The drop in the output signal requires more gain from the IC5S to ccompensate, leading to a degradation in performance with regards temperature stability and noise performance. Impedence greater than 1000 Ohms and sensitivities of 1mV/V and higher are recommended.

As the majority of our load cells have impedance levels below 1000 Ohms, it is recommended that the 3-wire ICA4H is used for 4-20mA outputs in preference to the ICA5S when being used with one of our load cells.
