Description
The CDI 5200 is a true thermal-mass flowmeter, adapted for easy installation in existing piping systems. Its large, bright LED display is easy to read from a distance and may be rotated allowing the display to be orientated for vertical or horizontal installations. The 5200 series now comes with the weather-proof enclosure and surge protection that was originally on the 6200 series and make it suitable for outdoor installation. A 4-20mA output and pulse output are standard; with an isolated pulse output module also available for data collection.
The meter measures flow by maintaining one probe warmer than the other. It calculates the mass velocity from the amount of heat required, and then calculates the flow on the basis of pipe area. The displays are configured for the size and dimension of the pipe and the rings will provide a seal on the pipe up to 200psi. The display can show flows in scfm, m³/min and m³/hr; it can also be configured to display daily usage or cumulative usage rather than current flow.
The CDI 5200 meters are commonly used for point-of-use monitoring of compressed air in textile mills, food packaging plants, groundwater remediation, printing plants and bottling plants; they are also widely used for branch-line monitoring.

Pressure Sensing Option
The pressure-sensing (-PSO) option for the CDI 5200 flow meter allows plant managers to monitor pressure throughout an air distribution system along with flow. The pressure sensor is mounted next to the flow-sensing probes. It accesses pipe pressure through a cutout in the gasket that seals the ring to the pipe and there are no additional steps during installation. The pressure signal is provided as a second milliamp output. With this option, both milliamp outputs are non-isolated; they source current to be returned to the meter’s dc-connection. The display can be configured to show the pressure signal, and the pressure signal is also available through the optional wired and wireless serial outputs.
