Description
The boards of the APCIe-xxxx series are intended for use in an industrial environment: They are equipped with numerous protective circuits like filters, optical isolation, protection against overvoltage and short-circuits, etc. Thus they ensure a reliable and smooth operation, particularly in case of dangerous interferences like voltage peaks or high currents.
Upgrade from PCI to PCI Express
Using PCI boards and looking to upgrade to PCI Express boards, the PCI Express boards are functionally compatible with the related PCI boards. PCI Express boards include new technologies and will improve the performance of your installation. PCIe boards include all the standard functions and options of related PCI board and are fully compatible with existing cables, terminals and a PCIe migration driver programming service is available to assist the changeover from an existing PCI system.
Benefit from the new technologies and the new efficient FPGA components that have been added to the PCI Express boards. The FPGA technology allows for shorter cycle times and the PCI Express boards include FPGA components to reduce the cycle time of signal acquisition and regulation tasks. Use the full hardware and software capacity of your board and accelerate your processes. PCI Express boards use a serial interface instead of a parallel interface used by the PCI boards. The PCIe boards also utilise individual buses for each device connected to it instead of a shared one. These changes allow a 16 slot PCIe board to send or receive data at up to 16GB/s, compared to the 133MB/s achieved by PCI boards.
PCI Express boards come with useful software tools for a fast and convenient integration into your application: The ingenious driver concept, ADDIPACK, includes a wide range of drivers and samples, and a configuration tool assist you from the beginning. The PCIe migration driver programming service is also available to assist the changeover.
