Description

Carbon Monoxide (CO) is a colourless, odourless, tasteless, and non-irritating gas that is highly toxic. It’s often referred to as the “silent killer” because it’s impossible to detect with human senses, and its presence can lead to severe health effects or death without warning.

Key Properties

  • Colourless, Odourless, Tasteless: Undetectable by human senses
  • Highly Toxic: Interferes with the blood’s ability to carry oxygen
  • Slightly Lighter Than Air: It mixes readily with air, but can still accumulate in enclosed spaces if not properly ventilated
  • Flammable: Can ignite and form explosive mixtures in high concentrations

This replacement cell is designed for gas detection where there may be H2 present in the air. The H2 can create a false reading for CO, as shown in the table below, and 17124975-G cell has a much lower sensitivity to H2 than the standard 17124975-1 cell. A 100ppm level of H2 would create a false reading of 22ppm in CO, compared to just 3ppm with the appropriate CO/H2 Low cell.

The table above reflects the percentage response provided by the sensor (top row) when exposed to a known concentration of the target gas (column 1).
The numbers were measured under these environmental conditions: 20 °C (68 °F), 50% RH and 1 atm.
The specified cross-interference numbers apply to new sensors only and may vary with time as well as from sensor to sensor.
“-” means no data available.
This table is given as a reference only and is subject to change.
