Description
The MCV1-FO-ETH-ST-MU Fibre Optic Converter offers a versatile solution for extending Ethernet network connectivity beyond the typical limitations of copper cabling. With support for the cost-effective multimode fibre (up to 2 km), this converter is ideal for connecting geographically separated network segments. A key advantage of the ST fibre optic connector is its twist-lock bayonet connection. This provides a more secure connection in environments probe to vibration and the ST connection is more prevalent with older equipment.

Developed by AT&T shortly after the introduction of the FC connector, the ST Connector, or Straight Tip Connector, offers a distinct bayonet-style twist-lock mechanism, setting it apart from the FC’s screw-threaded connection. While the two can be visually similar, this difference in their locking mechanism is key. Predominantly found in older fiber optic installations, the ST connector requires a twisting motion to secure the connection, a characteristic that distinguishes it from the push-pull coupling found in more modern connector types.
