Fluorescein Dye Electrode

The Aquaread Optical Fluorescein Dye Electrode is a highly sensitive digital sensor engineered to track and measure Fluorescein fluorescent tracer dyes in situ. Operating on the principle of narrow-band fluorometry, the sensor projects a targeted excitation light beam at 470 nm directly into the water column. The sub-surface Fluorescein dye molecules absorb this energy and instantaneously emit a shifted fluorescent signal, which the sensor isolates and measures through a tightly filtered 515 nm to 580 nm window to determine parts-per-billion concentrations.

What this electrode offers over universal tracer sensors is its direct, plug-and-play integration within Aquaread’s modular multi-parameter ecosystem. Equipped with ultra-hard, optically polished sapphire windows instead of standard resin or glass lenses, the sensor eliminates calibration drift caused by grit abrasions during high-velocity flow testing. Biofouling and sediment mitigation are tailored as system choices; while entry-level configurations on AP-LITE, AP-2000, and AP-5000 probes operate as static arrays for manual grab sampling, the electrode natively aligns with the motorized central wipers standard on the heavy-duty AP-6000 and AP-7000 platforms for continuous, unattended field logging.

  • Dual Auto-Ranging Precision: Automatically toggles between a sub-decimal 0.0 to 99.9mµg/L scale and a broad 100 to 500mµg/L range to handle subtle dispersion tracking alongside concentrated dye injections.
  • Abrasive-Resistant Sapphire Optics: Premium sapphire windows protect internal optical paths from micro-scratches during high-sediment river tracing or industrial pipe profiling.
  • Flexible Anti-Fouling Integration: Functions as a static sensor within entry-level assemblies or pairs directly with the automated motorised mechanical cleaning wipers built into the AP-6000 and AP-7000 probe bodies.
  • Universal Auxiliary Adaptability: Threads directly into the standard auxiliary optical ports of all modular Aquaprobes, removing the need for single-parameter logger electronics or standalone field gear.
