Description
The AP-800-D-O-PACKAGE Packages include an Aquaprobe AP-800-D sensor (including Conductivity, pH, ORP, TDS, SSG, Resistivity, Salinity, Turbidity and temperature readings), Optical Dissolved Oxygen electrode, Water Depth Sensor, a 3 meter cable, handheld GPS Aquameter, Calibration solutions and various accessories, all housed in a hard carry case for easy storage and transport. Readings for Total Dissolved Solids, Salinity and Seawater Specific Gravity are calculated from EC and Temperature electrode values.
Build
The AP-800 Aquaprobes are made with from marine grade Aluminium, finished in black with hard anodising for excellent corrosion and bio-fouling resistance. The use of metal, as opposed to plastic, gives it a high quality look and feel. The AP-800 includes an auxiliary socket fitted with an optical Turbidity sensor and can be exchange for any of the other Optical Electrodes.
Dissolved Oxygen Sensors
The Optical DO Sensor works on the principle of Dynamic Luminescence Quenching. A gas-permeable material known as a luminophore is excited with short bursts of blue light, which causes molecules in the luminophore to emit red photons. As this sensor doesn’t consume the Oxygen during operation, it doesn’t require a constant flow and is the best option in still water. The Optical Probe only requires cleaning if there is any bio-fouling, but the Luminophore within the DO Cap will need replacing every few years. Care should be taken when replacing this cap and done only in a shaded area to prevent bleaching the delicate interior of the cap.
