wRemote Wireless Data Acquisition System

Quick Overview

wRemote is a 2.4GHz Zigbee wireless mesh system for remote data acquisition of digital and analogue signals from sensors, switches and relays, and also MODBUS data from PLC s, power meters and other MODBUS devices. Data can be wirelessly collected from many remote nodes and delivered to a central colector unit which can be linked to SCADA and BMS systems, and MODBUS enabled data loggers such as the GRD or Datataker loggers.

Details

wRemote is a new concept of Wireless Industrial Telemetry at low cost. The Mesh technology used by the system gives characteristics of reliability and versatility.

The wRemote system was designed for industrial or open field installations, where the necessity of acquiring analog signals and of controlling digital inputs and outputs is not synonymous with high product cost or installation.

The devices have a serial port that allows the possibility of interaction with hundreds of machines of different brands, united under the Modbus communication protocol.

How it works?

The system consists of 2 devices. A Concentrator and Remote Nodes. All devices share a common data network, known as mesh networks and networks can consist of both powered and internally powered nodes.

Concentrator

The Concentrator, communicates with remote nodes, and obtains the information acquired by them.

1 Serial Port RS232/485 Modbus

1 Port USB Modbus and Configuration

wRemote-1001-CN required for any battery powered remote nodes.

The Concentrator can be connected to any device that can communicate through Modbus protocol as a Modbus Master such as a SCADA system, Datataker or GRD GPRS data Logger.

Remote Nodes

Remote Nodes are devices that collect information where they are installed, through its inputs, outputs and serial port.

4 Digital Inputs

2 Digital Outputs

Up to 4 Analogue Inputs 0-10V or 4-20mA

Up to 2 Analogue Outputs 0-10V or 4-20mA

1 Serial Port RS232/485 Modbus

Various sensors for pressure, temperature, flow, position, vibration etc can be connected to the remote nodes as well as any devices such as power meters or PLC's which are MODBUS slaves.

Mesh network

The Mesh Network permits the nodes to communicate with each other independently. This means that the nodes cannot send information directly to the Concentrator, but rather can pass it to other nodes on the network so that the destination is reached. A network of nodes can cover a large area as long as each node is always within radio range of the next nearest node.
