MTN/1185 RMS Velocity Transducer

MTN/1185 RMS Velocity Transducer

The MTN/1185 is a general purpose, top-entry RMS velocity transducer suitable for a wide range of different vibration monitoring applications. Constructed from stainless steel throughout, they are suitable for continuous vibration monitoring in harsh environments, including hazardous areas and fully submerged applications. Units are available with a choice of different connectors, armoured or waterproof cable and with or without ATEX certification. All units provide a proportional 4-20mA output for the mm/s ranges of 0-10 to 0-100mm/s. A wide selection of adapters are also available to allow the standard quick-fit mounting thread to be adapted to various other threads or glue and magnetic fittings

Velocity Transducer

A velocity transducer is a vibration sensor that provides a conditioned 4-20mA output proportional to the RMS value of the vibrations. The output shows displacement as a function of time and is provided in mm/sec. RMS velocity transducers are ideal for monitoring and control processes. RMS sensors provide a stable output that can easily be monitored over time for variations.

Any change in the normal vibration signal can indicate issues that need immediate attention to prevent damage to equipment. Changes in the vibration can indicate a piece of machinery is working loose from its mounting, fan blade malfunction, bearing failures or other machinery wear. Early indication of these types of issues can prevent extended machine shutdowns, loss of manufacturing time and ensuring that suitable spare/replacement parts are ordered before they are needed. Logging the vibration readings at regular intervals can be useful to highlight the gradual wear of part of a machine. These vibration readings can help to provide information on the expected life of machinery. Which can be beneficial for new equipment being used in harsh environments. The information can also allow for a suitable replacement to be purchased before a failure. This can limit the duration of any shutdown caused by a mechanical failure.

Applications

  • RMS vibration monitoring
  • Equipment vibration monitoring
  • Vibration montoring in submersible or very damp conditions
  • Bearing condition monitoring of rotating machinery
  • Paper industry vibration monitoring
  • Fan, compressor and pump condition monitoring.
  • Building services
