GSKIN U-Value & Heat Flux Measurement Kit

Quick Overview

GSKIN U-value Kit are a plug and play solution to allow for the remote measurement of U-value (W/(mK)), heat flux (W/m²), and 2 temperatures (°C). The kit combines a GSKIN heat flux sensor with a custom designed miniature MSR logger and two external temperature sensors on 1 & 5m cables. The logger has an internal memory for up to 2 million readings and can be left to log the data, or in a live operation mode for a real time investigation. Each kit consists of a logger, sensors, USB cable, carry case and software. The logger is configured with the calibration data for the individually supplied sensors.

U-value is used to show the amount of heat loss in a building element such as a wall, floor or roof. It is also referred to as an ‘overall heat transfer co-efficient’ and provides a measure of how well parts of a building transfer heat. A high U-value indicates a poor thermal performance of the building envelope, whilst a low U-value indicates a high level of insulation. They are used as a way of predicting the composite behaviour of an entire building element rather than relying on the properties of individual materials.
