Multi Channel Wireless Umbilical Logger For real time monitoring of umbilical pressure and resistance. The system comprises of a stand alone transmitter unit mounted on the umbilical drum, with sensors for pressure and line resistance. The data is continuously transmitted via wireless link to the logger providing a real time PC display with graph view and mimic panel. Cellular Base Station Generator Monitoring

Cellular base stations often operate in remote areas where mains power is not available. In these locations the base station is usually powered by a diesel generator. Data is sent via SMS text message to a secure server which publishes the data online in graphic format, and also provides SMS and email alerts to the cellular network operators.

Real Time Remote Monitoring of Railway Train Electrical Services

Omni Instruments supplies a retrofit GPRS telemetry package which can be fitted to older trains which are not at present equiped with a real time remote telemetry system. This low cost modular system can be used to monitor critical voltages, services and status of relays, and doors etc.. Pressure Sensors for Downhole Tools

Downhole tools used in oil and gas drilling and exploration require high performance sensors for pressure measurement. Our series 8 and series 10 OEM pressure capsules are available in ranges up to 1000 bar. They are suitable for operating temperatures up to 150 degrees C, and will provide a 200mV full scale output using a 1mA constant current supply.

Sea Mammal Research

Researchers studying the habits of sea mammals such as dolphins and whales need to know the depth to which these animals dive. Omni Instruments supplies small, low cost pressure transducers which are used in data loggers attached to whales and dolphins to measure the depth to which they are diving. These sensors are highly accurate, and have the added advantege that they draw very little current, which is important in battery powered applications.

Dairy Products Factory Flow Survey

A leading producer of Scottish ice cream needed to make a  survey of liquid flow rates across a range of processes on their site. Media types included potable water, milk, cream, and liquid ice cream. Pipework varied from two inches up to six inches. Omni Instruments provided a clamp on ultrasonic flow meter to measure all of these processes, initially on a hire basis. After the initial hire which proved both the measurement method, and the accuracy of the metering, the customer bought the equipment.

Subsea Motion, Load and Depth Logging System

This system is available for monitoring and logging heave motion and 3D orientation, gyro and accelerometer data and other parameters such as load, pressure and displacement subsea to depths of 4000 metres. An inertial measurement unit (IMU) is utilised for the motion sensing and the real time data is logged by solid state data logger which has additional analogue inputs suitable for load, pressure, displacement sensors etc.. The system can be fitted in a subsea housing suitable for depths to 4000 metres.

As the size of UAV's decreases is is necessary that the onboard senors are also very small and light, but still have sufficent performance to provide accurate attitude, velocity, heading and position information.

Smart Rain Gauge and Flood Warning System

Utilising a standard tipping bucket rain gauge with one of our SMS data loggers Omni instruments was able to provide a low cost remote rain logging system with 15 minute rainfall data sent to our M2MData web interface, and SMS alarm messages sent directly by the logger to local people to warn of high rainfall and potential flood situations.

Omni instruments has many years of experience in providing complete remote weather stations for the measurement of wind speed, wind direction, temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, rainfall, solar radiation, soil temperature and other environmental parameters. The MetPak weather stations allow for a direct connection to a PC or can be connected to a suitable datalogger to allow data to be downloaded locally or sent direct to our M2Mdata web interface via GSM/GPRS, where both real time and historic data can be viewed online via a secure login.

Forth Road Bridge Main Cable Dehumidification

Omni Instruments supplied sensors for measuring, temperature, humidity and air flow inside the main suspension cables of the Forth Road Bridge. The sensors were connected to data acquisition modules which converted the measured values to MODBUS for transmission to a SCADA system.
